sorry to be the pro flash guy here but if it wasnt for guys like this people would still be using flash to make bouncing balls. The stuff he does in flash is not only mathmatically very difiicult but beautiful as well. Its purpose is to inspire and show limitations.

We don't have to forget that human-computer interaction goes with the times, I mean.. Everyone uses mouse, keyboard and monitors <now> to work, study, surf, play and whatever. So we (strive to) code and design to bring a clean straight and linear path for the user to interact with, witting that she is using these devices.
But many (users and developers) find this a limitation of human activity and potential.
As long as IT is keeping growing many things will change, expecially regarding our relationship to computers.
In my opinion, people such as levitated.net are exploring new ways of interaction, that will probably fit better with pc of tomorrow - who knows?
Does anyone think that a WII controller could take place also in everyday pc tasks?
And - to conclude - many things that are pointless: are beautiful! Web designers are not only professionals but artists, too (web design can be game design and many other roles).
