PostSubject: 3D Design   Sat Dec 02, 2006 6:12 pm

Hi everyone . . .
I wanted to post this image to show you some of the work I am into. I did this piece over 2 years ago, I know it's old but I have just been busy with other 3d projects so I haven't done anything new lately.

Oddly enough the concept for this image came from the movie "Troy". Shocked
I was out surfing for imges of Greece and found an image from the Island of Santorini and came up with this scene . . .
anyway hope you like it.

Thanks lucy and kelly,
I try to stay away from game modeling only because I don't use the 3d proggie that is most common for game design. I do some work for clients for different media, but mostly the 3d work is sparse. I do have a project for a fanfilm I am involved in at the moment hopefully this will turn into a good deal.

Thanks skysportswidow,
I used 3 programs to make that image, First was Terragen which made the background image for me. Once I had that I built the "House" in a proggie called Lightwave 3D, compasited the background in and rendered the scene.
after that I used PhotoShop to tuch up shadows here and there..
That sene was actually my first attempt at image compositing.

awesome . . . you got a link to that rotoscope . . ? I would really love to check it out.
I know what you mean about the texturing . . . hard to tell if it is textured looking at the columns the floor and the walls. . . it could be mis-leading.

I figured I would try to get the scene to look as natural as I could almost as if someone lived there and maybe did a little cleaning every now and again. Most people when looking at 3d want to see dirt, rust and grim covering everything. Tho I don't actually live in a mung covered environment like that, seems a lot of people do.
Maybe one day when I have absolutely nothing to do I will go back to that sene and animate it but at the moment a have way too many things on my plate . . . If I add one more my wife may divorce me Laughing

Its good design. I really appreciate your efforts but its lacking originality. Use the color combination in such a way that it should portray as if real.

I woke up this morning in a very bad mood because of yesturday's events. Sitting in front of my computer I launch my email program and started to drink my coffee. After reading all the seious mail, I looked into my trash folder and found this email diecting me to this post on a forgotten forum.

The email script from this forum is so basic it doesn't show what is written in the new posts so . . . there was no way to tell what the reply was, Had I known or had the been able to see what drivel was written I probaqbly would have left it in the junk pile, but seeing how I had to come here to read it I will reply to you designcode . . . .

First of all welcome to the forum, second what-ever high horse you think you are on, you need to get off of it.
You are what is bad about every forum in cyber-space, you sir/madam are what is un-original. Your posts are typical of someone who thinks they know what art is and what forums are about. You sound like a reject from Deviant Art.
You commented on so many disciplines of art in this form you must be a design guru. Your talents must be off the scale in everything. Companies and firms much be knocking down your door to get you to work for them and design every single piece of art on this planet . . . . your so good.

And if you are so good, why are you slumming here?
You must need some ego stroking or something . . . .

I read all your posts and looked into your bio . . . . You sir/madam are not serious, you post none of your own work, you started none of your own threads, you don't even supply your home page address, . . . . if you have one . . . or are you like most self proclaimed artists who have a website still under construction?
No . . it is you who are un-original.

You were probably invited here like most of us, The author of this site must have seen something good in your work . . Personally he should have looked at your character . . . .

Thanks for your C&C but I am doing just fine without you . .
better yet . .
let me see some of your 3d then I will take you seriously.

I am sorry Mr. GP for my comments which hurt you badly. As you have requested I will be back with my pieces of work.
And the second point is, since you have asked for opinions of other folks I have expressed mine. That doesn't mean that I am saying your post as a bad one. It is a good one indeed, I have just asked you to try with other color combinations.

No . . you didn't hurt me badly . . what you did was piss me off greatly.
Not so much that you thought my image could use improvement, no that was fine . . . If you see something is off then you post it. There is a few items in that render that appear off, so C&C is not a problem.

What made me angry was calling the work un-original . . .
That was the wrong word to use at the wrong time of the day for me. . . . If I had read your post in the after noon I would have probably just blown it off . . . But you caught me at the wrong time.

Un-original to me means lack of imagination which doesn't fit that scene at all seeing how I made the image from scratch. The color scheme if fine, and is very life like, If for some reason you perfer a Paisley color scheme, that is your problem.

In my reply I mentioned something about you finding your way out of the slime of DA, because this type of abstract fluffy image art you seem to like seeing is there . . . was I right . . . ?
I did a search just now on DA for a designcode and found a member there called "Abdullah Ibrahim" designcode87@yahoo.com.
Is this you . . .?
I went throught that Gallery just now, I am not one to slam peoples work but let's just say there is nothing in that that gallery I haven't seen before. . . . . If you want to see more of my work, I am not hard to find
gpdesigner is my user name . . .
