just looking for suggetsions on how to let firms know that you would be willing to do free work experience without sounding desperate???

I'm currently doing any freelance work i can find whilst looking for an opportunity in an agency environment.

(oh god, i've read so many job spec's lately i'm starting to sound like one) pale
